Description

SANDLAND (Antalya Sand Sculpture Museum) is one of the oldest, prestigious and largest sand sculpture events in the world, which has been organized since 2006 with features such as the width of the area, the number of participating artists and the amount of sand used, where hundreds of sand sculptures of gigantic dimensions are exhibited.

The art of sand sculpture is a special type of Ephemeral art that has recently become widespread in the world. In the sand sculpture activities within the scope of alternative arts, only water and river sand are used. Every year in April, sculptures made by international sculptors emerge as magnificent works weighing hundreds of tons, meters in length and height, using only water and sand. Sand sculpture art, no
it carries the philosophy that the thing is not permanent and that everything will disappear one day. For this reason, these unique works, which amaze the viewers, are completely destroyed by demolition to make new ones after a short period of exhibition.

On an area of approximately 7 thousand square meters on the world-famous Lara Coast of Antalya, 10 thousand tons of river sand can be used to visit the magnificent works that have emerged as a result of the 3-week performances of professional sand sculpture artists from many countries of the world. Sandland, the world’s first and only exhibition open to visitors for 12 months, can be visited between 09:00-23:00 every day during the period of 1 May-1 November and between 09:00-19:00 during the period of 1 November-1 May.

The new theme of this year’s exhibition is “SPACE ADVENTURE”. In the exhibition, humanity’s journey to space is processed in chronological order with a pleasant and instructive approach. In this context, Leonardo Da Vinci, Galileo, the Wright Brothers, the Montgolfier Brothers, Hazerfen Çelebi, Zeppelin, Yury Gagarin, the first person to set foot on the moon, Neil Amstrong, the first person to set foot on the moon, the Columbia Space Shuttle, the Space X Dragon 2 Capsule, the Mars Space Colony, the planets in the Solar System and dozens of other sculptures made within the framework of dozens of themes are included in the exhibition area. Also on display are the heroes of many unforgettable space movies such as Star Wars, Star Trek, Wall-E, Avatar, Guardians of the Galaxy, Fifth Element and many more
Animated.

In the context of the theme, visitors are offered the opportunity to watch the sun, moon and planets live on the giant screen with powerful telescopes, and the human gyroscope, which creates a gravity-free environment used for the training of astronauts, also gives visitors a unique experience. In the event area, which appeals to everyone from 7 to 70, tiny visitors can participate in the workshop program organized using kinetic sand in the specially created Magic Sand Castle and have the opportunity to create their first works of art.

In the exhibition located on the seashore, ATV safari, water sports and similar activities are also offered to the guests who wish. The sculptures in the exhibition area are colored by the led lighting system at night, and the environment takes on a fairy-tale atmosphere with the music broadcast made within the framework of the theme. On another giant led screen in the Museum Cafeteria, a documentary about the construction stages of the sculptures is shown for those who are curious.
